Stacks.tech Interview

How long have you been in the industry?
We been in the smartphone space for over 20 years, we started as the first repair shop in Phoenix AZ (pre-Apple), got into the parts and buyback business and eventually transitioned completely to software based solutions with STACKS.

What exactly does STACKS do?
STACKS builds systems that make life easier for repair shops, phone flippers, wholesalers and prepaid dealers. We automate data, build custom tech stacks and give shops the tools to compete online—without needing to hire a full-time dev team.

What’s the biggest challenge you see repair shops dealing with right now?
Most shop are doing 2025 work with 2012 tools. Manual processes, messy spreadsheets, no tracking. I think shop owners need to focus on what generates revenue, refine and repeat.

What projects are you excited to be working on this year?
We’re building out a full trade-in API for shops to get live IMEI pricing, auto-list inventory to marketplaces like eBay and Walmart, and generate SEO content on autopilot. But honestly? The most exciting stuff is how fast shops are adapting once they get the right tools.

What’s one area most repair shops could improve with technology?
Lead capture and follow-up. Most shops wait for someone to walk in. We provide a system that turns browsers into buyers, and buyers into repeat customers—with communications, smart pricing, hundreds of integrations and more, all baked in.

How is STACKS different from other tools or software out there?
We don’t sell websites—we sell full systems. That means custom Google Sheets, automations, CRMs, payment links, trade-in calculators, and customer dashboards—all talking to each other. And if you need help, we don’t send you to a support article—we fix it with you.

What’s the biggest win you’ve seen a client get using STACKS?
One client went from chasing random Facebook DMs to having a full buyback funnel with checklists, auto replies, and payout logs—all in one day. They made back the cost of the setup within the first week.

Why did you start STACKS in the first place?
Because I was tired of watching talented shop owners burn out over things that should be automated. I did… I knew I could build something better for everybody.

Where do you see the industry heading in the next few years?
There is doom and gloom every year but mechanics aren’t going away, they are thriving. Laws protect our industry now more and more, just like the auto space. I see this as a recognized and protected space. I also think smart glasses are going to explode in the next 2-3 years.

What advice would you give to someone opening their first repair shop?
Dont hire friends. Dont keep the wrong people employed and make sure your accounting is goi gn to be managed. Start with systems and map all of them. Whether it’s tracking leads, pricing devices, or asking for reviews—do it from day one and you’ll grow faster with less stress.

What’s one thing you wish more people knew about STACKS?
Well, we’re not a faceless SaaS. We’re builders, like you. We roll up our sleeves, write the code, test it with real shops, and tweak it until it actually works. If it’s not helping you make money or save time, we don’t ship it.
